Feeling down? Here are top 5 games that will give you a mental health boost

Lately we have been seeing some somber stories being told in modern gaming. It's true that those kinds of stories stick with you for a lifetime but you need a refresher once in a while to look forward in your life. Here's 5 games that will help you back up from whatever that is holding you down in life. This list is not bound by any genre or player count or is a ranking. But be sure whatever genre you prefer or how many people you are playing these games will surely be you a pep talk.

5. Overcooked! 2

Overcooked! 2 is a couch co-op game made by Team 17 in 2018. It is the sequel to the highly acclaimed Overcooked! in 2016. In this game Team 17 updated the gameplay, added newer levels. The best thing they added in the sequel is online play. Allowing you and your friends from all over the world to enjoy the game from together from anywhere. This game relies on you and your friend's synergy to overcome challenges the game throws at you. The game can get hectic sometimes but in the end the laughs and high fives will definitely cheer you up. One of my personal favorite games to play with my friends.

4. Persona 4 Golden

I may have listed Persona 4 Golden in this entry. But this is interchangeable with the other modern entries those being 3 to 5. The reason I chose Persona 4 Golden for this list is because out of the other modern Persona games this game is the most light hearted and upbeat it can get. Persona 3 covers some serious themes but still has some fun moments. The next place goes to 5. 5 being a masterpiece has a good balance of serious and fun moments. And then comes Persona 4 Golden. This game is called the "happiest mature game" for a reason. None of which I'm going to spoil for you. But if you do decide to play this game I will suggest you to be patient or if you don't like this entry try the others out. There has never been a better time to be a Persona fan since the 3 remake is right around the corner. So you can rest assure that if one of the games gel with you the others are going to be fun too. But still we are not done with this list yet.

3. It Takes Two

It Takes Two was a breath fresh of air that released on the shooter year that was 2021. Unlike Overcooked! 2 this game has a story and various minigames sprinkled on every level. This game exudes tremendous charm mainly because of how arcade fun it feels. You cannot progress through this game without help from the other person. This game doesn't ask you but DEMANDS you to cooperate with your partner to traverse through the various amazing levels. In return you and your partner can get an amazing duo experience like no other game. After this game released it showed how much of a hole there is of games like this in current times. This is the perfect game to bond over someone. Whether that's a stranger, family or friend.

2. Just Cause 3

This entry may feel like an outcast from the entries that have come before. It is true that the previous entries have captivating stories that can teach you a thing or two about life and other things. But this one can't offer you any of that. Just Cause 3 doesn't advertise itself as a story rich game. But what it does take pride is in it's gameplay and gameplay loop. Just Cause 3 is an extremely addicting game if you catch the gameplay loop of it. The story can be explained two sentences. Bad guy terrorizing a regime. You take down the regime. The End. One of Rico's quotes in gameplay is literally "So long, bad guys!". It is literally a power fantasy. Where you can experiment with the gameplay physics and stuff and see what happens. This game may not brighten your day but it will make the day spent fun.

1. Yakuza: Like A Dragon

And the last entry is Yakuza: Like A Dragon! This game is seriously good in every aspect of it. Soundtrack, Gameplay, Story. You name it. People who have never played an RPG game before can also get into this game very easily. This game has a very colorful cast from all walks of life. This game tells the story of Ichiban Kasuga born in a soapland abandoned by his parents who has a unique upbringing and perspective to the world. He is a very charming character who can make you laugh for sure and make you root for him from the start. His character can inspire the battle-scarred old gamer to the new generation young bloods. His rise from a nobody to the Hero of Yokohama is a very fun story to hear. So rest assure that this game is not going to disappoint you... unless you are not into RPG's. Then again also helps those who are not into RPGs particulary.

So there you go these are the 5 games that can help you from whatever down time you are going through. But however these are only games which can help you as tools to help yourself. But it's your initiative that matters when going through a bad time.
